"Anarchy, State and Utopia " is the masterpiece of Nozick. It is a great work in which Nozick defines his viewpoint of state and demonstrates the legitimacy of state. In this book Nozick discusses his distinctive understanding not only on the state' s origin, but also on function and magnetism of state, explaining how the State-of-nature turned into a state by the " invisible-hand explanations " ; by criticizing the theory of Rawls, he demonstrates that no state more extensive than " the minimal state " can be justified; by depicting a framework for Utopia he exhibites the luster of state. Meanwhile, as a liberalist, he inherites some essential opinions of liberalism, making his point basing on safe-guarding the personal right. His theory is closely connected with the tradition of liberalism and the real society. This dissertation analyzes and comments on the state-theory of Nozick according to his logic of the original work. I try to find out his distintiveness of this theory in the comprehensive liberalism tradition while expressing my comment and interrogatory of some of his views.
