Since Chinese government adopted opening-up policy, Chinese economy has been greatly grown, with its import & export volume has continuously increased. 25 years ago, China's import & export volume was merely 206 million hundred dollars, while it amounted to 851.2 billion dollars and ranked 4th in the world in 2003. Now, China exported more high-valued and finish machining products rather than labor-dense and resource-oriented ones. In the course of the turnaround, Chinese foreign trade companies and export-oriented enterprises have been increasingly influent by the global market And China's entry into WTO calls for Chinese enterprises to be harmonious with the world.Certification is the common issue usually raised by the both parties in international trade. However, due to the distinction of standards of economy and culture, levels of the science and technology development and abilities and methods of machining, Certification sometimes turn into technology trade barriers in a specific time. In the near 20 years, Certification strides its first step and developed well, which boost the advancement of nation's foreign trade, whereas there are still many problems should be solved.The author has 10 years of rich work experience in Certification, and lead certification audits for many times. From the point of practice, based on the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade of the World Trade Organization (WTO/TBT) principles, analyzed gains and loses from cases happened in international trades and certification process, combined with world certification forecasts as well as China's facts, the author delivered relevant countermeasures and suggestions.The essay consists of 6 chapters.Chapter one: Foreword. It introduces the background and scope of this research, as well as its contents and significance.Chapter two: Certification in its beginning, and its growth, status and prediction both in worldwide and of domestic. It describes the definition of certification, genesis of product certification and system certification, and introduces problems that export-oriented enterprises experienced and will be faced.Chapter three: Relationship between certification and Chinese export-oriented enterprises. The author's own experiences and research witness the influences that Certification imposed on Chinese foreign trade. How Certification promoted the nation's foreign trade, while, on the other hand, it also posed barriers for exporting.Chapter four: Certification and Technical Barriers in Trade (TBT).Through its description of relationship between certification and TBT, we learn that certification is a combination of standards, lows & rules and conformity assessment. In fact, it's advanced and concealed modality of technical barrier. The chapter also made analysis and drew a conclusion on our attitude toward Certification and TBT.Chapter five: Influences that certification posed on Chinese foreign trade after the country's entry of WTO. GATT & WTO plays key roles in the world trade. Entry into WTO is a milestone in the history of Chinese foreign trade. In accordance with the changes of foreign trade, certification also changes. The set-up of Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Certification and Accreditation, poses tremendous effects to export-oriented enterprise adoption of Certification.Chapter six: Countermeasures & suggestions to the Certification in nation's foreign trade. Based on personal experiences and the current situation of Certification in china, the author put forward countermeasures and suggestions to promote nation's foreign trade, ameliorate management and achievements of export-oriented enterprises.
