Along with the fast-advancing of economy globalization and the booming of containers' transportation, the expanding gap between the ongoing demand of container ports' service and the restraint of government funding generates new requirements to the management mechanism of container ports. The usual practice of container ports' monopoly management faces rigorous challenge, and privatization becomes new trend in container ports' development.Firstly, this thesis makes an approach to the trends of containers' transportation, which cause the container ports to develop towards containerisation, water deepening, multifunction, internationalization and high-tech operation. The environmental variety in container ports' market gives rise to the change of its management system accordingly. All these above constitute the background of container ports' privatization.Secondly, the thesis gives the connotation of ports' privatization, and basing on the progress and practice of ports' privatization in other countries, summarizes the theories concerning ports' privatization, which are used for reference of China container ports' privatization. The thesis considers the main impetus of ports' privatization as the low efficiency of traditional ports' service, the demand of funds circulating and policy decision, as well as the technical progress and specialized management. Then, special emphasizes are paid to the analysis of the three main patterns, that is lease management, joint venture operation and BOT, of ports' privatization. Then comes the economics analysis of China container ports privatization, which constitutes the major project of the thesis. In this part, through analyzing the public product, scale economy and nature monopoly characteristics of China container ports, the thesis generalizes both macro and micro motivations of the rapid development of its privatization. Basing on some theories and models of economics and game theory, the thesis gives in-depth analysis on container ports' privatization, including the analyses of Marx's property theory, the theoretical and practical analyses of transaction cost, the market structure and operators' tacticsanalyses of industry organization, the internal person's behaviors analyses (in the aspects of loafing on job, operating facilities throwing in and managing cost controlling) of game theory, etc. Through these analyses, the thesis well affirms container ports' privatization in China. Finally, the thesis brings about some thoughts on those topics concerning the privatization of China's container ports. The thesis puts forward to five basic principles that we have to adhere to on the privatization of China container ports, and fixes the main cooperate colleagues on liner companies and multinational ports-operating enterprises. Game theory is introduced to analyze the concessionary term decision of BOT, and special attention is paid to those highlighted problems, such as, the right to conduct independent harbor business, the operating term adjustment of Sino-foreign joint ventures, and so on.
