Jiangsu Import And Economic Growth: A Study Based On Nationwide Comparison

Foreign Trade has a significant promotion to economic growth in China. However, previous researches focused upon export an.The relationship between import and economic growth has rarely been involved.In this thesis, a theoretical model is presented for describing promotion of import trade to economic growth by providing effective demand. The development of import trade in China and in Jiangsu province during the two decades of Reforming and Opening is reviewed and compared. Positive studies on the quantitative and causal relationships between import and economic growth are carried out with the application of econometric method in the range of China and Jiangsu. Some of the important result is that export is dependent on import and contribution of import to increase is more than that of export, more in Jiangsu than in the whole country.The Effects of administrative regulation to import on the fabric of import are also analyzed. The benefits to Jiangsu from import are analyzed with game theory to explain the above result that import contributes more to increase in Jiangsu than in the whole country.Finally, it is suggested that the policy of import trade in China be adjusted. The direction of adjustment and the corresponding strategy of Jiangsu are also proposed.
