| Geopark.is a compound word, which is combined by the prefixion of geology "geo-"and park. China is vast in territory and abundant in geoheritages. The unique geological background of China has created a numerous distinctive geological resources. It has become a usual practice in the world to set up national parks to protect the important and unique geological heritages. By now, a total of 85 national geoparks has been formally set up in China. Among them, 12 top national geoparks have been approved as the members of global network of geoparks(Global Geopark) by UNESCO since 2004. The establishment of these national geoparks is favorable not only for protecting the geological heritages, restoring the geological and ecological environment, but also for popularizing the knowledge of Earth science, supporting the sustainable development of local socio-economy , as well as providing new employment opportunities.Based on past experiences, it is an effective way to establish Geopark to conserve and protect valuable geological heritages, pursuant to the goal of Global Geopark Network and from the perspective of eastablishing geopark and promoting local economy, this thesis takes the Stone Forest Geopark as an example to study how to realize sustainable use of geological heritage through establishing geopark, which is also beneficial for all china's Global Geopark in terms of sustainable development.The author made a case study of Stone Forest World Geopark and summaried the developmental and practical experiences of this geopark. Then, based on some prominent characteristics of this Geopark, i. e. important scientific significance and striking scenic appeal, limited tourism section and overcrowded visitors, and relatively singular tourism mode (just sight-seeing), The author believes that its development must solve two interretated problems: the first is how to harmonize the planning and utilization of geological resources; the second is how to harmonize the construction of the geoheritages and developmenet of local cultural tourism resources. Ideals of scientific planning , protective utilization patterns and strategies , advanced administration and marketing strategies were introduced as an successful case amongthe 12 world geoparks in China. By comparison, the author draw conclusions and generalized the characteristics of 12 world geoparks and development actuality and gave accounts of problems in the development and establishment of 12 world geoparks, and some measures were brought forward, such as perfectly administering the geoparks by relevant law, making short or long term training plan for the practitioner.The whole thesis consists of six parts.Part 1, the preface, briefly introduces the concepts, the development of the geoparks, the meaning of setting up geoparks.Part 2, simply introduces the general procedures of applying for the Global Geopark, the current situation of china's national geopark as well.Part 3, mainly introduces the characteristics of 12 world geoparks and development actuality in our country.Part 4, it is the core of this thesis, mainly elaborates the general situation of Stone Forest World Geopark, principles and utilization pattern of landscaping, managing and marketing.Part 5, about the sustainable development theory, demonstrating the essentiality of the sustainable development in 12 world geoparks in our country.Part 6, conclusions and new ideas of this thesis, giving accounts of problems in the of development and establishment of 12 world geoparks in our country, and some proposals being.put forward. |
