Ideological and political education refers to the activity of human beings training and educating man from the aspect of ideological and political morality. Methodology is the manners and means adopted by subjects during the process of recognizing and reforming the world. Then, the ideological and political education methodology means the ideological methods and working methods, which are adopted by educators., used for educates during the education. And the work of that plays an inevitably effective role among all the works to our party. Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping gradually constructed the theoretical and methodological systems of the ideological and political education of their own, during the long-term education practice. So that, this paper probes into the comparative study between them, which would do work to the ideological and political work with practical significance and inspiration nowadays.There are plentiful contents fill Mao's ideological and political education methodology, which still do good to our Communist Party leading us to construct our country. Firstly investigation and research are the main channels for Mao to gain the ideological and political informations, that is no investigation, no speech right; Secondly, assemblage and speech are the effective ways for Mao to propagate and encourage people; thirdly, setting an example of himself is his basic requirement; Fourthly, treating different people as their own using variety of methods is his proficient method to resolve the ideological problems; Fifthly, educating with examples is another strong method; Lastly, criticism and self-criticism are used to integrate the thoughts and recognitions as a whole party.Deng Xiaoping probes hard into the education methodology with our own characters, which is based on the main principles of Marxism and thoughts of Mao Zedong as well as combined with the new features of modern China. He persists on seeking truth from fact, educating with patience, treating different people with different ways, all of which arethe vivid embodiment of Marxism's dealing with subtle details partly. Besides, he insists on ideological education as the main body with the material encouragement the supplement in order to enhance the exports of the work; meanwhile, setting an example of themselves cannot be omitted; lastly, criticism and self-criticism are also the important methods of resolving the ideological problems.Corning next is the similarities between them: the profound theory, the distinctive features of new times, the scientific practice and the brilliant creativeness Comparative study makes development.The historical development of own party's education methodology is a kind of process full of inheritance and creativity following the changing of the society. Since the two leaders own different political and cultural backgrounds, different experience, different thoughts and different working core, there are also some differences: Mao focuses on inspiring people while Deng Combines education with administration and laws; Mao advocates Carrying the revolution spirits forward while Deng inclines to combine the spirits with the material profits; what's more, Deng holds to the positive encouragement, stands for the brave adventure to prove the validity of the education contents.As new problems need new explorations; so as the ideological and political education work needs inheritance and creativity. In order to obtain the best efforts, its methods play a linking role. The ideological and political education would embody the epoch spirits and new political superiority only when it meets the demands and characters of social market economy, changes ideas, improves methods and enhances the actual effects. So that, the ideological and political education work should change rigid irrigation into effective irrigation, overt education into covert education.
