Relevant market, a basic conception of the antitrust law, is the beginning ofantitrust analysis. Relevant market comprises product market, geographic market andtime market, and relevant product market is the most important concept in those three.However, there is no regulations relating relevant product market yet in China, andarticles on this field are quite limited. This article discusses relevant product marketsystematically, and brings forward the suggestions to its legislation in our country.This article introduced the concept and importance of relevant market, therelevant legislations in other countries, selected cases in U.S. and E.U., and providedthe general theory of market definition systematically. Besides, in regarding theinfluence of economic globalization on world market, this article suggested tocombine the ways of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis together, and set upthe basic principles of market definition. Finally, based on the current situation ofantitrust law legislation in China, this article suggested that we should not only learnexperiences on theories and practices from U.S. and E.U., but also introduce inquantitative analysis and qualitative analysis together, and establish the basicprinciples to direct market definition in accordance with the specific nationalcondition and world trend of economic development.
