The Limitations Of The Npt And The Dprk Nuclear Issue

Mankind has been suffering the menace of nuclear destruction since nuclear weapons came into existence. Therefore, the prevention of nuclear proliferation has become the common concern of all the countries throughout the world. With the concerted efforts of the international society, human being have established a whole set of nuclear-proliferation prevention system (also called non-dispersal system), which mainly consists of a series of international treaties, organization and institutions. Among them the NPT and the IAEA are of the most importance. The NPT which was signed in 1968 and took its effect in 1970 is the rudiment of nuclear-dispersal prevention at present. The main contents are as follows: the signatory states with nuclear weapons can't transfer nuclear weapons, nuclear explosion facilities or the control authority, stop nuclear military competitions as soon as possible, and have talks in nuclear disarmament matters; on the other hand, non-nuclear signatory states can't accept produce or require nuclear weapons and other explosion facilities in other ways, and also promise to take all the guaranteed supervised measures of the IAEA.In order to prevent the dispersal of the nuclear weapons, the NPT has set up a wielding-treaty system, which is in the charge of IAEA. Founded in 1957, IAEA' s two major tasks are: one to promote the peaceful sue of nuclear energy; the other is to carry out the nuclear guarantee, that is , to check nuclear facilities and make sure that nuclear materials can't be used for the purpose of explosion just to prevent nuclear proliferation.NPT has played active role in the prevention of nuclear proliferation since it took effect.
