Ideological And Political Work In Maintaining Social Stability

Since the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Party Committee, China has made striking accomplishment, and taken on the new social look of prosperity and stability. China is in the critical period of reforming and developing, but there are many factors affecting the social stability. Maintaining the social stability is one of China's overall interests, which needs the work of the whole society. Being the lifeline of economic work and other work in our country, ideological and political work should play important role and fulfill its functions in maintaining the social stability.This paper consists of three parts. Beginning with the connotation, feature and significance of the social stability, the first one demonstrates the relation between the ideological and political work and the social stability that the ideological and political work can play important role in maintaining the social stability. The second one analyzes the main factors which affect the social stability, such as the social interests'split and conflict, the challenge for the main stream ideology, the decline of virtues and belief crisis, the spreading of the corruption and the deteriorating of the ecological environment, and so on. Based on the second one, the third one discusses the functions which the ideological and political work maintains the social stability. They are the directing function, the coordinating function, the mental harmonizing function, educating function, the social forewarning function. The paper is mainly adopted three methods, documents, history, induction and analysis, respectively.
