Domestic violence is a kind of violence happened in an enclosed environment, particularly between husband/wife and lovers. It is not a social problem only existing at present, nor in our country, it has become an issue which caused global concern. Since 1990s, with the increasing attentions on the domestic violence, Japan also conducts its study on it, and Japanese government put a lot of efforts on preventing domestic violence.This article is written based upon close observation on domestic violence in Japan, including examples and ideological analysis. All the examples listed in this article came from Japanese cabinet. Through analysis of revolting and tolerance to domestic violence, this article can help you get a general understanding about the social foundations of domestic violence. When women suffer domestic violence, most of them want to run away from that at first. But due to economic dependence, they usually give up running and stay in the domestic and become tolerate. Under current economic structure in Japan, there is significant employment prejudices against women, it becomes a main reason of women's dependence. Besides, Japanese social support system confused the meaning of domestic violence to other things, stressing women's obey to their husband, thus legalize domestic violence. From this point of view, there are big defects on the Act of Domestic Violence Prevention; it is nearly useless to women who need help.The article consists of the Preface, the Body and the Conclusion. The preface part aims to introduce the study intension and method; the body part is divided into three chapters: Chapter one: analyses on the current domestic violence in Japan; Chapter two: through investigation to women, in order to know women's attitude to social and sexual division of labor, as well as their attitude towards domestic violence; further more, analysis of women's revolting and tolerance to domestic violence. Chapter Three: understanding the defects of Act of Domestic Violence Prevention in protecting women who are facing it.
