The jury system is an important system for the court to absorb non-professional judges to participate in the cases, which people give more and more importance and attention. The author expounds the following aspects mainly in this essay .The first part, summary of jury system, is divided into five sections,including the origin of jury system, introduction the development of jury system in western countries and Chinese people assessor system and the reasons why jury system came out.In the second part, the author detects the features and separate-and–balance mechanism of three jury systems, mainly analyzes the difference of mechanism of these three jury system by contrast.The third part is the present situation of Chinese people assessor based on"Decision on improvement of people assessor system".The problems in the practice and the causes that result in these defections are analyzed .The last one is the improvement of Chinese people assessor system. Firstly, the author analyses the value and function of jury system from a legal angle. Generally speaking, Maintaining the fairness of judicature and judicial supervision is more important than any other value and function; Then, to realize judicial fairness and promote supervision, our country should continue to insist and develop people assessor system in a separate-and–balance way . Only in this way can it fulfill its own unique function in the process of seeking judicial fairness.
