With the development of market economy, science and technology and change of people's values, the media lawsuit of iconology right frequently occurs. As a kind of media tort, it is an outstanding issue that iconology right of characters in news reports is infringed on by journalists. However, the increasing of the issue represents a historical progress in modern society since it reflects the waking of people's sense of self-determination, the strengthening consciousness of protecting their rights. They are gradually realizing the importance of the iconology right protection. But some problems still exists in the iconology right protection, and related laws and regulations lag behind the realistic events in some extent. Therefore, it is very important to stress on the issue and discuss how to avoid the problems referring people's iconology rights in news reports.The article mainly includes four parts: the concept of iconology right and the issue of iconology right infringed on by journalists, the sorts of the iconology infringement, the constitution of the issue and its defense causes as well as the main causes of the iconology infringement and preventive measures. Through dialectical analysis, the author tries to find some regulatory solutions. The creative idea in this article is that the author stresses on the balance of journalists' right to report and the protection of iconology right, while a systematic classification of the issue is put forward on which basis the main causes of the issue are concluded. At the end of the article, the author reflects on the prevention of the issue and proposes some corresponding measures.
