The supervision of the media is an important part in the social supervisory system, which has become an indispensable factor in the construction of democracy and legal system. In China, with the development of legal system construction, the supervisory functions of the media has attracted more attention because it not only meets the demands of the public for rights of knowledge but also holds positive significance for the promotion of judicial reform and judicial justness. However, the supervision of the media functions as a"double-edged sword"in the sense that the supervision of the media often comes in conflict with the independence of the judicial organs. Some supervision of the media threatens the independence, the procedure and the authority of judicial acts. On one hand, there should be some regulations on the supervisory acts of the media; on the other hand, there should be some rule to follow by the judicial organs to protect the media. How to balance the two aspects is the key point in searching for the optimal balance of journal freedom and judicial independence.
