As one of the most important parts of Marxism, Engels' concept of time, inheriting all the previous excellent cultural achievement and making a clear break with idealism as well as mechanical materialism, initiates the concept of time in the sense of dialectical materialism. It is an universal concept extracted from all the scientific fruits at that time. This paper plans to explore the reason of the development of this concept of time through introducing its process and analysing its strong points and weaknessesThesises deal with Angels' concept of time overally arerarely seen in the last two dacedes, so this paper intends to fill this cacancy and sorts out its general trend of development fistly, and this paper mainly discusses three characteristics of Engels' concept of time, i.e. objectivity, infinity and dynamism. The conclusion are: that time is the basic way of existence for materials is its most basic point of view; Infinity is the unity of limitedness and unlimitedness; Dynamism cannot be seperated from materials; Then this paper analysizes Engels' concept of time fully and systematically. It is not only the generalization and abstraction of all concepts of that time, but bears close relationship with the dialectical materialism epistemology as well, which is of great theoretical value.
