In the modern society of rule of law, the property right is the sacred and inviolable right. However, the duty inherent in the property right decides that the property is not absolute and it is to be deprived of by the law for the public blessdness. Expropriation for public interest is such a system for restrict private ownership of property.Expropriation for public interest is the compulsory deprivation of the counterpart's property in a legal name. Its core lies in that the administative subject can acquire the property without the consent of the property owner. Therefore the expropriation for public interest is related to the state's executive power and the counterpart's property right, public interest, and the state and the society. The thought of emphasizing both the protection and the restriction of property right is embodied deeply and clearly in the system. In the modern time, with the increasingly enriching od the content of citizens'property right and the greatly advancing of the democratic lrgality, especially, the promulgation of the real lae, when we restrict the praperty right, how to protect the property right to the greatest extent is a problem that invovles the change of the government function, the development of the economic construction, and the social order. The problem can also provide practical value for the study of the system of expropriation for public interest.The thesis makes a study of French Expropriation for public interest. The paper consists of four parts. the first part discusses the basic theory of Expropriation for public interest. Part two discuss the legal basis of Expropriation for public interest from the property right point.
