As the guiding ideology of Indian diplomacy towards the United States and the Soviet Union, Nehru's"non-alignment"thinking is based on complex background. It is not only influenced by international situation, but also by Western ideas and traditional Indian culture. Through it always changes, the aim is ever clear, that is for the interests of India, and keep balance between America and the Soviet Union, get kinds of aids which is necessary for India's further developing, and besides it is a good way to improve the stage of India in international society. The fact shows that Nehru's"non-alignment"thinking made India gets what it needed from the Big Two and improves its international environment successfully. Nehru himself also got world-wide reputation by this idea. Most third world nations wanted to learn this experience and finally carried out the international Non-Aligned Movement. This paper will have a summary and rethinking about Nehru's"non-alignment"thinking from the aspects of definition, content, background, practice, the relationship with the international Non-Aligned Movement and its impacts. Through this paper, we could have a comprehensive and clear recognition about Nehru's"non-alignment"thinking.
