Theory Of Civil Society And Building A Harmonious Society

Since the latter part of last century, the research wave of "civil society" rises all around the world. This is the regression to the western tradition of civil society. Compared with the phenomenon occurred in the international theoretical circles, civil society problem was not been paid attention for a long time in China, until with the start of the reform and opening up, specially with the establishment and implementation of the socialist market economic system, the relationship between state and society has profound changes. This change calls for a corresponding theoretical, therefore, the civil society theory which was independent from the state and political and social was raised against this background.China today, the biggest historical background is social transformation, which was including economic system reform, political system reform, education and culture system reform. The ultimate goal of transformation is to a state of harmony. And now, the fundamental conditions of China are at primary stage of socialism in a long time. To achieve the goal of a harmonious society, we need to settle the most important problem which is how to develop the economic. But there is no precedent and experiences to follow in how to develop the socialism market economic. The most significant feature of western mature market economic was when the market economy developed there inevitably generated a civil society; instead, the civil society will react in market economic and national politics. Thence, this paper was guided by the basic principles of Marxist civil society theory, through combing and analyzing western theories of civil society, to find a right way to construct civil society with Chinese characteristics and harmonious society.The concept of civil society as a typical Western vocabulary, it is primary and necessary to analysis its historical evolution of the approaches for demonstrating its relevance and the theoretical value. Systematic study of Western theories of the formation of civil society and to explore the logic of evolution clues can help us figure out how to build a harmonious society with Chinese characteristics. Based on the theme of civil society theory-the relationship between political state and civil society, the first chapter will include and summary four modes. The first model is the classical civil society theory. Its theoretical feature is that society does not be distinguished, and the relative state of country is the barbaric state of mankind. The second model is the modern liberalism civil society theory. In this model, there is still no distinction between state and society, and the relative state of country is a kind of hypothetical "nature state". The difference from the first model is that thinking sprout of separation between civil society and political state on the property issue appears. The third model is the nationalism civil society theory, namely the modern model of civil society theory. It is opened by Hegel, and its core idea is that the political state determines the civil society. This model influences the contemporary civil society theory mostly. The fourth model is the neo-liberalism civil society theory in contemporary western, which represents the new development of civil society in contemporary.After analyzing the civil society concept's basic meaning and development of Marx and Engels, chapter 2 excavates deeply the transcendence of Marx and Engels'civil society theory beyond the past and their theory's time value. The article holds that civil society in the course of forming the new materialism of Marx is a consistent concept, and simply different because of the needs for expressing in the specific interpretations. Moreover, the concept of civil society also has a very important position in the development progress of Marxism.The analysis of the first and second chapter is to provide a new perspective for building a harmonious society, and this is the theme of the third chapter. Firstly, the paper analyzes the ideological basis for building a harmonious society, and the bases include China's traditional culture and Marxist historical materialism theory of a harmonious society. Secondly, the paper analyzes the location of civil society with Chinese characteristics in social development. Lastly, through analyzing the general values of civil society and the ultimate value of socialist society, we find civil society which is guided by the ideology of historical materialism occupy an important position and play an active role in building a harmonious society.
