Reading custom and ability plays a fundamental role in the life time study; to increase the reading ability of the middle school students in the process of teaching in Middle school is critical in the study and development of students. The reform in the new fundamental education curriculum raises new requirement and challenge for the history teaching in middle school. Middle school history curriculum standard requires students to have the "ability of preliminary reading, understanding and obtaining and processing history information.", setting the raising of reading ability as one of the curriculum targets. This thesis circumfused how to bring up the reading ability of historical documents for students, on the bases of questionnaire to the teaching junior middle school grade one students and with my practice experience in teaching, exercising the theory on reading, psychology, education and historical education, analyzing and stating the key to improve the reading ability is to waken students'reading interesting, and adopt many kinds of teaching tactics to accelerate the development of historical reading ability for students. The thesis has divided into five parts. The first part is to state the theory base and research trends; the second part is through the questionnaire discussing about the diathesis that affecting the students on historic documents reading. The third part is to bring forward the related teaching tactics to improve the reading and comprehending ability for historical documents; The fourth part is through the teaching cases to discuss the approaching of bringing up the reading interesting for the students, and to sum up and rethinking the teaching tactics and researching; The fifth part is the conclusion.
