The education cost that families and individuals to bear of is continuously increasing because the implementation of higher cost compensation mechanisms in China. The influence of family income in their higher education choices of their children is growing, especially for relatively low income rural families. In this case, it has practical significance to analysis the income of rural household when the families making their choice of higher education. In this paper, the rural families'data in Kunming Fumin County is used to analyze the relationship between income and education choice. We started from the higher education cost-benefit analysis, and then calculated the rate of the burden of education for rural family in Kunming and rate of return to education. Based on this, we analyze the factors about higher education choice in rural families in Kunming for further study. From the cost of education, the implementation of higher cost compensation mechanisms itself is a reasonable mechanism, which is a reasonable result between development and equity of education for a country at a certain level of economic development. Studies show that, with the development of higher education, the higher education expanded scale so that more and more senior school graduates can access to higher education. At the same time, it is also increased the financial burden on low-income families in rural areas. To solve this problem, we need to be balanced the implementation of higher cost compensation mechanisms with supporting measures, in order to improve the fairness between different income of families about the choice which their children's choice of higher education. From the proceeds of education, the education and agricultural production have a positive correlation in the sample areas. The education on rural workers can bring a certain benefits to agricultural production, and increase the agriculture income of rural families in the sample area. Meanwhile, the education on rural workers also has a positive impact on children's educational investment of rural families. From the impact that rural household income on the choice behavior of their children's education, families form different income level attach importance to the investment in their children's education problems. Economic situation of families have the certain influence on their investment in their children's education and the educational expectations on children's education, which to be reflected in professional and school choice of the low-income families. We propose that the government and related departments should attach importance to China's existing urban-rural income gap, and aim at the existing problem about the implementation of higher cost compensation mechanisms. We should determine the reasonable tuition level of higher education, and establish a more elaborate scholarships, grants and loans system, in allusion to help the students form the low income rural families. And we should strengthen the vocational counsel for college graduates, in order to work their problem of employment.
