Everyone has their own learning style and cognitive style, each cognitive style has their own advantages and disadvantages, but they are no good or bad. Although the current research has not yet clear that what is the center of cognitive style. But the teaching practice has proven that cognitive styles of different students have different effects. Students with different cognitive styles prefer different learning style, different teaching modes for different cognitive styles of students is not the same. If the teaching modes could fit the students'cognitive style, it must be achieving better teaching results. So individuals with different cognitive styles have their own preferences on coding, storage and extract. Practice proved that if the information coding not smooth, it must be a bad storage and extract.Previous work on the relationship between working memory and cognitive style has two shortages:first, not on working memory subsystems. Second, working memory experimental materials has not distinguished between verb and image. So we use the way Franklin and Tversky's experiments on spatial cognition paradigm, to work out the relationship between verbal-imagery cognitive style and spatial memory.Based on the hypothesis and objective above, this study used experimentations to explore the relationship between cognitive style and memory. There were 30 students from Heilongjiang College of Nursing and 60 students from Harbin Normal University to take part in these experiments. The VICS (Verbal Imagery Cognitive Style) which is a program presented by computer to exam one's cognitive style, dimension scores in the previous 30% and back 30% to distinction classic cognitive styles. The results showed that:1. Distinguished or not between cognitive style, spatial memory response time were significantly different on the "literal maps" and "narratives" of the two experimental materials, and the differences in accuracy do not exist.2. Distinguished Verbal-imagery cognitive styles the response time and accuracy were both different in spatial memory information extract.3. Distinguished Verbal-imagery cognitive styles the response time and accuracy were no difference in spatial memory information processing.4. Distinguished Verbal-imagery cognitive styles simple cognitive tasks may be more inclined to use their own cognitive style.5. The relationship between Verbal-imagery dimension of cognitive style and spatial memory is not independent.
