In order to adapt to the popularization of higher education and the needs of the development of further reform, the voice of professional and specialized development of university counselors is getting more and more higher. As pioneers and important participants of the special plan about university counselors, doctoral students admitted from college ideological and moral advisors (hereinafter referred to as doctoral students-advisors) guide a direction of professional and specialized development of university counselors. A research on the study experience of doctoral students-advisors can improve their cultivation quality, and promote professional and specialized development of the national university counselors’team.To begin with, the paper demonstrates the rationality from the perspective of study experience study the cultivation of doctoral students-advisors; secondly, the paper summarizes the present situation of national university counselors’ team construction and the background of the special plan about university counselors bringed forward and the implementation; then, randomly selected doctoral students-advisors that took part in the26th national university counselors training courses and studying in N university as research object, and investigated at the study participation and self-evaluation of harvest levels, using self-made questionnaire conducted a survey and received160valid questionnaires, aims to study their cultivation quality; bedsides, the paper interviews14doctoral students-advisors from N university of grade2010,2011and2012to cover the shortage of questionnaire survey. In the end, on the basis of questionnaire survey and qualitative interview, the paper analyzes the present cultivation situation of national doctoral students-advisors, and puts forward the corresponding improvement strategies.According to the results of questionnaire survey and qualitative interview, we can draw some conclusions:firstly, doctoral students-advisors have no much time and energy to full participate in their in-service study; secondly, the universities that are responsible for the cultivation treat doctoral students-advisors as the other kind of students indistinguishably; finally, the universities they work in have no special support. Necessary effects must be taken to improve this situation from all sides. To the doctoral students-advisors themselves, they need correct their study motivation to promote lifelong learning, allocate time reasonably to cope with pressure, understand self-orientation to exploit the advantages to the full, and enhance communication between teachers and students to increase the scientific research ability. To the universities that are responsible for the cultivation, they should strengthen the formulation and implementation of training program, set up specialized courses reasonably, and add applied seminar on advanced questions. To the universities where doctoral students-advisors work in, they should guarantee one-year of full-time study, reduce their workload appropriately and enact explicit policies to support university counselors’ further study.
