Symbolic-graphic combination is one of the important mathematical thought of middle school mathematics.It runs though the whole high school mathematics content and is one of mathematical thought that the curriculum requires attention to. Symbolic-graphic combination help students understangding the mathematics knowledge of high school, help to improve students’ ability to analyze and solve problems.At the same time it occupies very important position in the college entrance examination.The research methods of this paper are the literature review,the questionnaire survey and the interview.Through the research and interview with students we can know about the current situation of high school students using symbolic-graphic combination to solve problems, the differences of using symbolic-graphic combination to solve problems in the three grade of students and the differences of using symbolic-graphic combination to solve problems in the differences of using symbolic-graphic combination to solve problems in learning good students and learning bad students.The results of the survey show that:(1) the consciousness of high school students to solves problems with symbolic-graphic combination isn’t strong,the accuracy of the transfoumation between number and shape isn’t high and the writing isn’t standard;(2) the consciousness of high three school students to solves problems with symbolic-graphic combination is sronger than th the consciousness of high two school students and the consciousness of high two school students to solves problems with symbolic-graphic combination is sronger than th the consciousness of high one s students;(3) the consciousness of the gifted students to solves problems with symbolic-graphic combination is sronger than the consciousness of the poor srudents in the same grade students.According to the results of the research and interview, I can draw some conclusions of cultivating the ability to solves problems with symbolic-graphic combination from the perspective of students and teachers. From the perspective of students.(1) they should strengthen the independent cooperative, exploratory ways of learning and attach great importance to the mathematical thought in mathematical formulas and mathematical theorems;(2) they should have good habits of analyzing the question and select the best thought or method to solve problems.(3) they should pay more attention the reflection and summary after finishing solving problems. From the perspective of teachers,(1) they should excavate symbolic-graphic combination of mathematical textbooks in the teaching;(2) they should have different requirements of solving problems with symbolic-graphic combination to students of different grades in the teaching;(3) they should pay more attention to the standard of solving problems in the teaching;(4) they should pay more attention to the learning bad students in the teaching;(5) they should pay more attention to enhance the ability of solving problems.
