The use and understanding of display rules play a central role in the emotionaldevelopment of the child, which has a very important meaning to their emotionalhealth development. Display rules are also “social tools”, which can be used bychildren to make sense of social interactions and to aid self-regulation. Knowledge ofdisplay rules is correlated with social competence. It can enrich the hearing-impairedchildren theory of mind, improve their interpersonal communication skills and helpthem return to the mainstream of society by discussing the hearing impaired pupilscognition characteristics on emotional display rules.This study selected186hearing impaired pupils in deaf schools as subjects,analyzing expression regulating knowledge, emotional expression rules strategies andemotional expression subject characteristics on hearing impaired pupils in differentgrade, different genders and different situations. Conclusions are as follows:1. Expression regulating knowledge ability of hearing impaired pupils increaseswith the grade. Senior grade is better than junior, girls are better than boys, positivesituation is better than the negative situation.2. Senior grade students use more overall, calm and conceal strategies more thanjunior grade. Weakening and exaggerating strategies is used more or less by eachgrade. Girls use more calm strategy than boys. Weakening and concealing strategiesare more used in positive situation, while calm strategy is more use in negativesituation. Concealing strategy is used the most, calm strategy follows, andexaggerating strategy is used the least.3. Senior grade pupils use more expression of emotional goals. Girls are betterthan boys, and the social orientation goals in positive situation are better than negativesituation.The education suggestions: training hearing-impaired students learn torecognize other people’s emotions and feelings; training appropriate hearing-impairedstudents to express their emotions and feelings appropriately; guide the hearingimpaired pupils to be pro-social on emotional expression goals.
