Error occurs in problem solving is an inevitable phenomenon during the learning processes of a student in which the error analysis is an important factor that affecting teaching effectiveness. Proper analysis of the error cause could help teachers see the rational part of the error thereby guiding the future teaching practice by exploiting the error as effective teaching resources.Organic chemistry is a comparatively special part in senior high school chemistry contents which requires remarkable logical thinking that, directed by the material structure knowledge, a student is required to infer the nature of organic compounds from the basic structure of organics by associating them with production and real life in human society. Therefore, the subject of organic chemistry examines the students from a rather unique perspective and the errors students made are more typical than general subjects. This thesis, discussing the senior high school organic chemistry, designed a questionnaire of "Senior High Student misconceptions status quo", based on problem solving and metacognitive theories. Through surveys and individual interviews this thesis presented four error causes and the proportion of each in the learning process of high school students in organic chemistry, which are:errors in problem characterization, errors in planning problem-solving process, errors in the implementation of problem-solving plan and errors resulted from the lack of self-reflection. In teaching practice, combining individual cases and focusing on error causes appears among students, this thesis put forward the error prevention teaching and error correction teaching, and is meant to provide reasonable advice and assistance to teachers.
