Language output can promote the automation of language use, test whether the use of vocabulary and grammar structure of target language is proper, and improve the degree of fluency and accuracy of learners’ language expressions, so it plays a significant role in language learning.This study is based on Swain’s Output theory, exploring the way of improving primary students’ writing ability.This paper uses empirical research method by selecting two classes of Grade six as the experimental objects to carry out writing training for one semester. The two classes were taught by the author and another teacher; the overall English level of two classes is similar; the teachers have similar qualifications, and the two classes are suitable for research. Therefore, the experiment involved one class being the control class and the other the experimental class. The author carried out a series of writing training in the experimental class so as to find out whether this training can improve the students’ self-confidence and writing level and what kind of the students could get the greatest impact?Through the one-term experiment, the author summarized the following findings:Writing training makes students more interested and more confident in English writing. Writing training can markedly promote the primary school students’ English writing ability. The average students and upper level students made the greatest and most obvious progress in the experiment. Next to them were the outstanding students, while the progress of students who have great difficulty in learning was very little. The students’ writing ability enhances their ability in solving objective questions, promoting their all-round development of listening, speaking, reading ability, so as to improve their overall English skills.Therefore, the author obtained the enlightenment from the experiment that English writing training is beneficial to the students’English writing. Teachers should have the courage to carry out writing training and pay more attention to the writing training. The training should be regular, systematical, and from shallower to deeper. This study is of great practical significance to the primary school English teaching of writing. It confirms the importance of the Output theory, encouraging more teachers to pay attention to students’ accumulation of writing. The writing training promotes the writing ability of students of different English levels, which shows that it can be widely used in the teaching of English writing.
