At the turn of the century, family education is facing many new situations and problems.As the21century, we lived, is in a changing social conditions, we have to think seriouslyabout the future mission of family education, when we examine the family education that playa critical role for children and adolescents. Therefore, it is particularly important to thoroughresearch and benefit correctly from the people’s family education thought who is good ateducating children and governing family in history. This paper chose Tseng Kuo-fan’s familyeducation thought as a case to study, in order to be of great advantage to improve realisticproblem, for instance, utilitarianism on home education, parents neglecting to cultivate child’sindependence, Chinese traditional culture getting lost and so on.This paper adopts literature method,mainly basis on the first-hand information of TsengKuo-fan’s chronology, letters, diaries, memorials and anthology, teasing apart and analyzingthe basic process of the evolution about Tseng Kuo-fan’s family education thought, viewedfrom the adapting to age and solving the problems of the contemporary family educationproblems point, summarizing historical experience and providing reference for today.The first part is the introduction. It summarized the origin, the purpose and significanceof the study, and related literature review, theoretical basis and research methods on thewhole.The second part is the background of forming Tseng Kuo-fan’s family education thought.Describe the background of forming Tseng Kuo-fan’s family education thought with political,economic, social contradictions and western learning into east with social change, in order toset the stage for Tseng Kuo-fan’s family education thought.The third part is the the basic process of the evolution about Tseng Kuo-fan’s familyeducation thought. Departing Tseng Kuo-fan’s family education thought into three parts tosummarized analysis, hope to present the the process of the evolution about Tseng Kuo-fan’s family education thought from the traditional family education to the Modern familyeducation, and to compatible the advantage of Chinese and Western family education.The fourth part is the modern enlightenment of Tseng Kuo-fan’s family educationthought. Combined with the current social phenomenon, in view of the contemporary familyeducation, digging Tseng Kuo-fan’s family education thought. First, hope one’s children willto be a sage not only have a bright future. Second, Teach children to fish, but not give fish tothem. Third, inherit family tradition to protect our traditional culture.
