The ideological and political education of university teachers not only determines the healthy development of individual teachers but also guarantees the quality of talent cultivation for higher construction and the sustainability of deepening higher education reform. With the social transformation and the further implementation of reform and opening up, especially being greatly influenced by the tide of commodity economy and diversified culture and idea, the ideological and political education of teachers in universities has gradually come up with some problems, such as insufficient guidance, monotonous means, absence of organization, and so on. This has lead to some key problems for teachers group in the circumstances of relative lack of external effective ideological and political education guidance and constraint, which directly affects the healthy growth of teachers, and poses a danger to the sustainable development of higher education and realization of Chinese dream for the great rejuvenation of our Chinese nation. Therefore, it is increasingly urgent and necessary to deeply innovate the ideological and political education of teachers in universities to adapt to the new situation..From a professional perspective of ideological and political education, with the methodology of literature study and surveys, this thesis elaborates on the importance and necessity of ideological and political education in the new situation. With reference to the status quo of the ideological and political education for teachers in universities and the cognition and feedback on the ideological and political education for teachers in universities from the teachers, this thesis deeply probes into the status quo, features and many problems of the ideological and political education, and analyzes many subjective and objective factors affecting teachers ideological and political education in universities with qualitative and quantitative methods, and finally puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions to deepen and innovate ideological and political education of teachers in universities.
