Physics diagrams, the result of combination of figures and forms,the reflectionof combination of concreteness and abstraction,can directly,vividly and conciselyshow the relationship between two physics quantities,clearly convey physicalprocesses, and correctly reflect experimental rules. Analyzing physics problems withthe help of physics diagrams is widely used. Physics diagrams in senior middleschools are diagrammatic drawings and curve charts. In physics study,solvingproblems with the help of physics diagrams especially refers to describe physicsprocesses and states,the process of reasoning with the help of diagrammatic drawingsand curve charts and others,the process including identifying,creating and usingthem. The ability to solve problems with the help of physical diagrams mainlycontains the ability to identify,cerate and use them.In the practical application,middle school students are poor in applying physicsdiagrams to solving problems,while there is little study about how to promote itaffectively. This paper is mainly to discuss how to effectively promote students’ability to solve problems with the help of physics diagrams. Main research work is thefollowing:1.Analyze the competency acquirements and types in the test of physics diagrams inOrdinary Middle School Physics Curriculum Standards and the middle school physicstextbooks(PEP),by means of data studies;2.Survey and analyze the situation of the middle school students applying physicsdiagrams to solving problems and factors in it,using questionnaires;3.Structure the teaching methods for promoting middle school students’ analyzing andsolving problems based on their identifying,creating and using diagrams,accordingto the problems students face with and relevant theories about diagrams and trainingstudents to use them effectively;4.Explore the efficiency of teaching methods of middle school students applyingphysics diagrams to analyzing and solving problems,in the course of teaching twoscience classes,grade two,in Yuxi No.1Middle School,Yunnan Province.After testing the survey before and after the plan and comparing the effects,theconclusions are the following:1.Strengthening the study and application of physics diagrams is essential for physicsstudy in middle schools,helpful for their physics study and the development of theirability and it will increase their interest in physics;2.It will develop students’ ability to solve physics problems using mathematicalmethods,and promote students’ ability to solve problems and convey their ideas withthe help of diagrams;3.Strengthening the teaching of physics diagrams is beneficial to developing students’ability to analyze and solve problems,also a good way to promote students’ ability todo so.The research aims at letting physics teachers and others involved in pay more attention to the teaching of physical diagrams and letting it take an active part inpromoting students’ abilities.
