A Study On The Changes Of Village Culture In The Process Of Modernization

The culture of Village is an indispensable part of Chinese culture and it is alsothe basic bearing of the Chinese rural culture. In order to build a new socialistcountryside which "Development of Production, wealthy life, health custom, cleanand tidy appearance and democratic management", we need to play the imporant roleof the powerful driving of village cultural in the rural modernization. In the process ofmodernization, the traditional village culture is impacted by drastic changes. Basedon the research angle of sociology, through field investigation of the S village atHunan Xiangtan, giving priority to the in-depth interviews, supplemented byliterature method, discussing in the transformation process in the modernization ofvillage culture, we can provide ideas for the construction of village culture.The whole text is divided into six parts: the first part mainly elaborates the socialbackground of the research questions has been raised, and combed the domestic andinternational relevant researches and achievements of the village culture, including itschanges, puts forward the realistic meaning and theoretical significance of this study;The second part describes the general situation of investigation and introduces thenatural environment and social environment of the S village at Hunan Xiangtan; Thethird part mainly elaborates the evolution of the material culture of the S village. Thischapter discusses our topic from the following aspects: the village appearance,clothing, food, housing, transportation, agricultural production tools, the main cropsplanting and village customs and so on in the modernization process, to exploring thechanges of material culture. The fourth part mainly expounds the changes of thesystem culture of S village. System culture can be divided into formal system andinformal system culture, this chapter discusses the village governance system and thevillage economic system as the changes of the content of formal system culture,which including the village weddings, funerals, and social norms for the changes ofthe content of informal system culture; The fifth part is mainly discussed in theprocess of modernization of the S village, the evolution of cognitive of the village culture, respectively introduced the villagers’ attitudes torwards fertility, consumptionidea, education idea, the ancestors of faith and religious beliefs; The sixth part is theconclusion and suggestion, the study concluded that firstly it is greatly influencedvillage cultural which are changed by the modernization, the second is village culturalchange is the unity of active flux and passive flux, the third is the village culturalchange calls for new village cultural construction. According to the present situationof the village cultural evolution, now the construction of village culture needs thesupport of the cooperation of government and the villagers, the government shouldstrengthen the positive guidance of village culture vicissitude, the villagers shouldimprove the main consciousness in the village culture construction.
