The quadratic function in senior high school is applying new properties of the function and continuing to exlore the relevant function properties based on the knowledge in junior high school. It can be observed that the great flexibility in the examination about the quadratic function, and more of an emphasis on the applying mathematical thought methods through analysis of the college entrance examination. In the previous researches, they paid more attention to studying the content of the quadratic function, however, lacking of studying the correlation with the other rele-vant knowledge, at the same time, existing some situations that the separation of knowledge and method of thinking of the quadratic function. Consequently, It is sig-nificantly meaningful to study the education about the quadratic function.The two aspects are mainly concerned in this paper. The first is to analyze the setting problems about the quadratic function of national examination in recent years. The second is mainly about the educational design of the quadratic function. Firstly, we propose the aim and meaning of the research according to the new curriculum standard’s requirement about the function knowledge and the status of the quadratic function in high school through the method of literature, investigation, and compari-son. Secondly, we collect and analyze the setting problems related to the quadratic function in national examination after the new curriculum standard promulgated, and summarize the valuable exam tips, we find it takes more attention to the examination of thinking methods. Finally, we investigate the current situation of the students ’grasping and teachers’ teaching about the knowledge of quadratic function by the means of questionnaire survey, and based on this, we pointedly propose two educa-tional designs that consider both the content of quadratic function and the correlation with the thought ways. They can provide the beneficial reference to the students’ studying and the teachers’ teaching.
