The logarithmic function, which is an important elementary function at middle school stage, is the content of college entrance examination. But in the process of learning related knowledge about the log, most students occurred the difficulty about understanding and application. Thus, investigation and Analysis about student on the extent understanding of knowledge about the logarithmic function can help the teacher to grasp the learning situation, teach student in accordance with their aptitude, improve learning effect of student.Using internship opportunity with Xi’an Chang’an No.1 High School, We investigate the level of grasping the logarithmic function with four high school class by self-test. Meanwhile the knowledge about logarithmic function is classified as four classes:including the concept and the basic operation property, domain and range, monotonicity and image information, the comparison of value. From the above four aspects research of students’ understanding level of the logarithmic function, we have recognized and analysed. The following conclusions as follow:Students understand well with the concept of logarithm. But they cannot flexibly catch on the basic operation and base changing formula for lograithms.Students don’t gasp the definition of logarithmic function, for example that they think that the antilogarithm is not equal to 1. While they do not have consciousness of analyzing logarithm base for calculation of rang, especially for the compound function.Majority of students understand well the monotony of logarithmic functions, but most students do not consider the domain of function involved compound function domain, and cannot get accurately the information from image of logarithmic functions, even are not able to compare the value of logarithm through the corresponding from the image.
