Mathematical notation is a unified international regulations, is an important branch of mathematical language, used to provide communication platform and tool for mathematical activities. Mathematical symbols carrying the teaching content of senior high school mathematics framework, is the concentration of concepts and knowledge points, but also for the concepts and knowledge service. Study of mathematical symbols, to cultivate the ability of abstract generalization ability and the mathematical thinking of students, but also to improve the students’ mathematical literacy.The current situation of senior high school mathematics understanding symbols are not satisfactory. Easy to find in the process of teaching, students on the mathematics symbol itself interest is not high, there are a lot of problems in mathematical symbols understanding and use of machine learning methods, mathematical symbols. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the status quo and mathematical symbols of the level of understanding of senior high school students do in-depth exploration, analysis of influence factors, to seek the effective teaching strategy for teachers, to find a good way of learning for students, to help students learn mathematics symbols effectively, and then learn mathematics.In this paper, based on a lot of documents, through literature research, questionnaire survey and interview three kinds of research methods, to explore the status of mathematical symbol comprehension of senior high school students. The results of the study show that:(1) Generally is in the original understanding and representation of mathematical symbols understanding level of understanding of high school students;(2)There is no gender difference in mathematical symbol comprehension of senior high school students;(3) There are different grades of high school students mathematical symbol comprehension, will rise with the growth of grade;(4) There are differences in the level of senior high school mathematical symbol comprehension, students with high academic level high level of understanding of mathematical symbols;(5)The learning attitude and learning methods of students affect students’ understanding of mathematical symbols;(6)Teachers pay more attention to the mathematical symbol level and the effectiveness of implementation of mathematical symbols teaching students to understand mathematical symbols.In order to improve the senior high school student mathematics symbol comprehension level, according to the research results, in this paper the teacher in the teaching of mathematical symbols strategy:(1) Closely related to mathematics concept, clarify the meaning of mathematical symbols;(2) The contrast, analysis of different teaching methods;(3) A clear mathematical symbols of the sequence of events, provide rich background for symbol learning;(4) Pay attention to the symbolic language conversion,image language, written language;(5) To guide the students to pay attention to the cultivation of mathematical symbols in learning, learning attitude and good learning methods.(6) Timely correction, with the students’ mathematics knowledge increases gradually penetrate symbols to understand.
