Constantly driven by the curriculum reform, the new curriculum reform delivers clear requirements on emotions, attitudes and values: having the scientific attitude and spirit of bravely standing up for the truth, bringing bold innovations and seeking truth from facts. The core of the scientifc spirit is an innovative mind, demanding the method, concept and model of high school physics instruction to be changed in order to satisfy the social needs in a innovative era. The instruction should incorporate the cultivation of thinking ability into passing on knowledge, which entails constantly upgrading instructive concept and improving instructive method.Mind map, a simple and efficient mind training tool, could be utilized to help people better memorize knowledge, as well as to develop divergent mind, systematic thinking and knowledge structure. The study on brain science has rapidly evolved into the mind map, which generates powerful theories conducive to enhancing the effectiveness of mind training. Instruction under the mind map helps the students build a complete knowlege system and provides effective assistance to clear their thoughts, fully understand concepts and increase learning efficiency. Applying the mind map in high school electromagnetic instruction not only is an effective instructive strategy, but also serves as an effective instruction tool to raise instruction effeciency.The following is included in this study:1. The domestic and foreign study on the mind map is discussed through collating and looking up relevant literature. In particular, the development of the mind map in China is analysed and its application in intruction is elaborated.2. The theories of brain science and educational psychology are used to analyse the functions of the mind map in instruction and clarify its functions in the effective learning.3.Through the analysis of the content of high school electromagnetic instruction,a mind map is build with its focus on such problems as students’ lack of learning initiative and imagination and low learning efficiency in the traditional instruction setting. This mind map can be applied to new curriculum instruction, revision and various courses. A detailed instruction process is also designed accordingly.4. Finally, based on the possible weaknesses of the mind map, advice is given on incorporating the mind map into electromagnetic instruction.5. Weaknesses of this study are summarised.
