In August 2009, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education issued the “Five strict” regulations to curb the activities of students in the school, and to strictly control the amount of the students’ work, and as a result, the teacher must improve teaching efficiency to improve student academic performance. In mathematics teaching, improving students’ ability to solve problems is an important way to improve students’ math scores, among which varying textbook examples and exercises is an important approach to improving students’ ability to solve problems of teaching. By varying teaching allows students to think about the problem from a different perspective, and in the process variant awareness can guide students to find the essence of "no change" from the "change" phenomenon and explore the law from the "no change". Combining general educational theory and based on the actual situation of the researcher’s school, this project is to find out the relevant strategies as to the necessity of conducing the variant associated with textbook examples and exercises. This project is carried out mainly through the following methods: literature method, test method, questionnaire method, interviewing method and so on.1. From the test papers, it is found as follows: the accuracy of doing the original examples and exercises in the textbook is much higher than doing variants.2. Based on the test papers, the researchers’ attending classes and the students’ achievements, we can see: the student’s ability to deal with the variants is closely linked to basic level of the students themselves as well as the teachers’ ability to teach the process variants.3. Test papers reflect the problems as follows: in the teaching process, it is necessary to vary textbook examples and exercises.4. Questionnaires and interviewing teaching reflect the following findings: teachers and students are mostly satisfied with textbook examples and exercises, and most students want teachers to vary textbook examples and exercises, but the research of the variants is not enough.5. Based on ten years of teaching high school mathematics, the communication of the teachers in the same grade, the needs of the students and the research of the project for two years, the researchers has developed the teaching strategies of the variants of text examples and exercises.
