Betty Friedan was one of the pioneers and the main leaders of the Second American feminist movement in the United States, and in the world feminist has a high reputation.It is no exaggeration to say that Friedan her whole life to the cause of women’s liberation to you. Formation of Friedan’s feminist legal thought is with her family background and early education experience inseparable.She was born in a Jewish family, her family background has an important impact on the formation of her later feminist legal thought.Friedan witnessed their mother to give up due to a variety of career and be a housewife discontent. Friedan later married, married issue was dismissed because his company, she also makes her own experience more positive engaged in feminist cause.“The Feminine Mystique,” a book published in 1963, unveiled the outskirts of “happy housewife”of life.In 1981, her“The Second Stage”encouraged feminists find the right direction keep going.Friedan’s feminist jurisprudence are liberal feminist legal thought, this is an early feminist jurisprudence development,the formation of her feminist legal thought from the traditional liberal thinking,critical legal thinking, postmodern theory, and Mary Wollstonecraft’s feminist ideas and John Stuart Mill’s feminist ideas and so on.Friedan’s feminist legal thought include: gender justice, gender equality, protection of women’s right to abortion and other content.She advocated the adoption of the law to seek equality that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities.Friedan wrote books, to participate in the American feminist movement, for the United States women’s liberation cause and struggle.As feminist jurisprudence from naive to mature, feminist jurisprudence evolved into four main groups:liberal feminist jurisprudence,law and cultural feminism,radical feminist jurisprudence and post-modern feminist jurisprudence.Friedan is representative of liberal feminist jurisprudence, are more liberal early pioneer feminist jurisprudence.Liberal feminist jurisprudence is that women should share the opportunities of self-selection, selection of equality of opportunity. They through the challenges of men in positions of authority, hoping to exclude social differences caused due to gender differences, and ultimately compete for the right to equality in the workplace under the scope of this with the other three factions feminist jurisprudence is different.The basic contents of Friedan’s feminist jurisprudence, which with other feminist jurisprudence do a comparison, you can see that Friedan’s feminist jurisprudence than the United States at that time had a significant effect on raising a family in today’s Chinese women, social status, career complete emancipation of women also have a profound impact.Friedan from the original “The Feminine Mystique”talking to the people,later called “The Second Stage”go ahead and participate in the evolution of the feminist movement of the spirit of her various ideological descendants,these are encouraged to continue to move forward. But the idea of learning, Friedan not blindly copy, due to different historical background of the differences, the actual situation in the different historical foundation of China and the United States and other reasons, we need to learn from our thoughts Friedan concrete reality. But it is undeniable, Friedan thought revelatory significance to China women’s development, China’s current law to protect women’s rights continue to improve, but there are still insufficient.Our women should improve their consciousness,and the need for proper positioning their value, in addition,the state,society should change the traditional gender roles of women recognize and encourage the establishment of cooperative mode gender play their respective advantages and mutual cooperation, joint efforts to build a harmonious, fair, more efficient society.
