Interpersonal communication has two forms, one is the language, the other is non language. In the kindergarten, physical contact behavior is an important part of nonverbal behavior in the process of interaction between teacher and children. It is an important way of communication and its significance should not be underestimated.This study chooses 6 Chinese teachers and 69 children from the international department of a kindergarten in Nanjing as the research object.The study tries to find the fact that physical contact behavior in the process of interaction between teacher and children by observation method,analysis the characteristics of physical contact behavior.Gather further information about children’s feeling through interview and explore teachers how to think about "give an embrace to children".The following are the conclusions of this study.The study finds that holding hand behavior in the process of interaction appears most, embracing behavior appears less.Different physical contact behavior occurs in different scenarios.Holding hand and embracing behavior appear more in the morning activities.While pulling arm behavior appears more in the teaching activities.The interaction of teacher and children in the life activity, there are more holding hand and touching head behavior. Compared with other activities,physical contact behavior appears generally less in play games.In all cases, the ratio of teachers as the main agents is generally higher than the ratio of young children as the main agents.Touching head and pulling arm behavior appear more in educational activities.Teachers use holding hand behavior to put forward some requirements or constraints,while embracing behavior appears more common in the emotional communication process.Whether teachers open or children open interactive event,when teachers choose to embrace or touch head to interact with children,they accept each other’s request easily.While teachers pull children’s arms,their level of acceptance is generally low, no reaction is also more.In addition, this research combines with the specific case to analysis the process of the occurrence of physical contact behavior in the interaction between teacher and children.Physical contact behavior has the characteristics of situation, guidance and directness.Most children like to be embraced by teachers and teachers agree with the concept of "give an embrace to children".But their concept,the work experience,the workload,children’s personality and behavior will affect teachers’ behavior.Through discussion and analysis of the results,the author tries to put forward the corresponding suggestions from four aspects:By changing the teacher’s concept to deepen the understanding of embrace;By improving the professional ethics accomplishment to care for children; By building the consciousness of equality to embrace each child; By choosing the right education opportunity and give children a proper embrace.
