Imagine The Impact Of Contact On Inter-ethnic Communication

Since the advent of intergroup contact is regarded as one of the most effective strategies to improve intergroup relations.Imagine intergroup contact as the latest development of contact theory,it has been proved that imagined intergroup contact can also effectively improve intergroup relations.This study totally concluded two studies to examine the effect of imagined intergroup contact on cross ethnic interaction in the background of Chinese culture.The study one was mainly to examine the relationship between trait anxiety levels,the number of ethnic groups contacts and the quality of ethnic groups contact.In the study two,The attitudes of the Han college students of different trait anxiety levels across the ethnic interaction under different conditions was evaluated.On the whole,the average score of trait anxiety was slightly higher than the theoretical median,and the trait anxiety was negatively correlated with the number of contact.Trait anxiety was negatively correlated with the frequency of contact and was not correlated with the number of contact.The higher the degree of trait anxiety,the less the number of contacts,the lower the contact quality.The study two results showed that imagine contact had a significant effect of improving the cross ethnic interaction's attitude;Compared to neutral imagined contact,positive imagined contact has a significant positive impact on improvement of the subjects' contact cross ethnic interaction attitude;trait anxiety level had a significant impact on the cross ethnic interaction attitudes.Positive imagined contact had a significant effect on the attitude of cross ethnic contact.Compared with the subjects with high trait anxiety,the subjects with low trait anxiety showed more positive attitudes towards cross ethnic contact under the condition of positive imagined contact.Based on the above resear-ch results,this study puts forwar-d some suggestions on Education:the establishment of multicultural curriculum;to encourage inter ethnic cooperation;to carry out a wealth of campus culture,etc..The purpose of this study was to improve the willingness of the Han college students to communicate with each other,and to increase the motivation of cross ethnic contact and from the perspective of college students to provide a reference for the promotion of ethnic relations.
