A Study On The Moral Ability Of Confucianism To Improve The Competency Of College Instructors

Confucian moral thought is an important part in the Confucian culture, and Confucian culture is also regarded as a masterpiece of excellent traditional Chinese culture. With the advanced pace of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, the party and the state have been realized that excellent traditional Chinese culture of contemporary Chinese development is of far-reaching significance. Xi Jinping, the general secretary has come up with the contents of the Confucian cultural allusions repeatedly, gives credit for Confucian culture and the excellent traditional culture. He said, “outstanding traditional Chinese culture is full of philosophy, humanism, the enlightenment thinking,the moral concepts,etc.,which can provide beneficial enlightenment for people to know and transform the world, provide beneficial enlightenment for governing, also provide some useful inspirations for moral construction.”So,studying the Confucian moral thought has important implications for building the socialist society in China, practicing the socialist core values,promoting the realization of the Chinese nation and realizing the great revival of the Chinese dream.Ideological and political instructors in colleges and universities(hereinafter referred to as “college counselors”) are one of the main body of the working group of ideological and political education. They are the backbone of the ideological and political education. College counselors play a major role in helping college students set up the correct world outlook, the outlook on life and values,helping college students form a good moral character,understanding and mastering the ideological and political situation, helping the poor, teaching and the construction of the party. Therefore, the construction of a “strong political, professional, strict self-interest,good style” college counselors’ teams plays a decisive role for the growth of college students.We quote the related concept of “competency” in management, summarize the research of the counselor, and think of how to build a strong counselor team as well as enhance the level of competence of counselors. We see the humanistic thought and the benevolence in Confucian moral thoughts as the breakthrough point, improve university counselors’ competence level from the college counselors’ work motivation, role, self-awareness and personal understanding, and improve the quality of college counselors.In this paper, first of all, on the basis of predecessors’ researches,we explain the development of Confucianism and the core content of Confucian moral thoughts and connotation. On the second part, we analyze the problem of university counselors` competence from the connotation of competence, the present situation of college instructors’ competency and the problems coming from the works of university counselors. On the third part, we see the Confucian moral thought as an important role in improving competence of university counselors. Finally, we put forward some questions in the Confucian moral thought which can strengthen the construction of counselors`team.
