A Study On The Needs Of Parental Education In The Children Of 3-6 Years Old

Strictly speaking, preschool education not only refers to education in kindergarten, but also includes family education. In order to respond the call to develop preschool education, preschooler’s family education should be one of the main strengths. Therefore, as preschooler’s significant others, parents should be as professional as preschool teachers. Commercial institutions and mass media make profit by providing parenting education, but they pay little attention to what parents really need. This research aims to make a survey on preschooler’s parent and find out what they need in family education. On the basis of results, this research attempts to give practical advice on parenting education.Through the questionnaire to patents and interviews to preschooler teachers, some conclusions are made as following:(1) Preschooler’s parents generally express the strong need to accept parenting education; (2) Except a relatively weaker need of social resources, preschooler’s parents need other aspects of parenting education strongly; (3) Preschooler’s parents of different ages have various degree of need on social resources;(4) Compared to mother, father need more information(knowledge) on preschooler’s physical and mental characteristics at different ages; (5) About how to dealing with patenting stress and instruct kid to develop physical skills, boys’ parents have a stronger need on that than girls’ parents. (6) Parents of preschooler at different ages pay attention to different parenting issues. (7) Preschooler’s parents require improvement on the specialization, content and organization of parenting education.According to conclusions, this research calls for educators to take the personal need and efficiency of organization into account, in addition to the general need. The administrative organizations and commercial institutions should be encouraged to unite for providing applicable solution to family which have different background. Meanwhile, this research also discuss the possibility to built a nation-wide program on parenting education by studying from parent training program in other countries.
