In recent years, In the process of popularization of higher education, higher education of Yunnan province has made rapid development. And the same time, with the expansion of newly-founded universities, their disciplines and specialty holds an increase, which leads to the contradictions of higher education’s constitutive property is becoming more and more serious. As an important part of structure of higher education, discipline structure is important foundation that adapts to the regional economic and social development. Optimizing the discipline structure of higher education is an effective way to lead the cultural heritage, adapt to the regional economic development.On basis of structural-functionalism, internal and external relationships between education law, this paper uses literature method, survey method to establish analyzed dimension to decide whether the discipline structure of higher education is reasonable or not. And then this paper analyzes current situation of the discipline structure of higher education in Yunnan province, and sums up the key problems in Yunnan province. At last, this paper puts forward optimized proposals so as to promote the development of higher education in Yunnan province.The main content of this paper includes five parts. The first part is to show significance of research papers, research thoughts, and research methods. The second part includes the definition of core concepts, presentation of basic theory, and practical roots of this paper. The third part puts forward a reasonable framework to analyze the discipline structure of higher education based on perspective of theory, which includes meeting education purpose, following laws of education, remaining coordination with internal aspects of structure of the higher education, and adapting to changes in external environments. And then, this paper selected quantitative analysis to research the current development situation of discipline structure of higher education in Yunnan province so as to discovered and summarized the existing problems about discipline structure of higher education in Yunnan province in recent years, such as unreasonable layout regarding disciplines and specialty because of the layout of universities, specifications and quantities of applied talents from universities not meet the social requirement, specialty set in colleges lacks the characteristic, and extreme refinement of specialty leads to unemployment for colleges students and so on. Finally, this thesis offer the corresponding proposal and safeguard measures to promote the development of discipline structure of higher education in Yunnan province.This paper take Yunnan province as an example to makes research on the discipline structure of higher education from the point of rationality. Although this paper is not perfect, compared with the existing research, it is relatively new. This paper wishes to offer more broader field of vision to adjust the discipline structure of higher education to serve social economic development in Yunnan province.
