Traditional culture is the spiritual wealth that the Chinese nation created in the long history as well as an important foundation for national development and identity recognition. Over recent year, a traditional culture fever has emerged in Chinese society. Ancient poetry teaching, as the major carrier of traditional culture, has become a major topic for education. However, during the educational practice, we find most teachers neglect the penetration of traditional culture in ancient poetry teaching and students lack interest in learning traditional culture. Currently, the education of traditional culture in ancient poetry teaching for primary school students is not optimistic.To further understand the existing problems in traditional cultural education during primary school ancient poetry teaching, the author mainly applies literature review, interview, questionnaire analysis, observation, etc. Surveys are made in primary school ancient poetry textbooks and teachers’teaching of traditional culture in ancient poetry classes. Finally, it is found that the existing problems include:unreasonable proportion of traditional cultural elements in textbooks, less annotations, unclear themes in units, incomplete teaching goals set by teachers, single teaching method, shallow understanding on teaching contents, monotonous evaluation and single evaluating way and low interest of students in learning ancient poetry. Through analyzing these problems, it finds their underlying reasons include:unreasonable complication of ancient poetry textbooks, insufficient professional quality of teachers imparting traditional cultural knowledge with ancient poetry classes and the contemporary social background which is unfavorable for traditional cultural education.Based on analysis of the problems above, the research proposes strategies from following aspects:improving teachers’professional quality for traditional cultural education in ancient poetry teaching, increasing students’ interest in learning traditional poetry teaching and optimizing complication of traditional cultural part in ancient poetry materials for primary schools.
