Learning motivation refers to a kind of impetus tendency which arouses and maintains students’ learning behaviors and points to a certain academic goal. It is a inner motivation that encourages students to study directly and plays a very important role in students’ learning. However, the present learning situation of senior high school students proves the lack of learning motivation ubiquitous. Learning motivation of Ideological and Political subject means the motivating aspects that are formed to arouse and maintain learning behaviors in Ideological and Political classes. It is the result of self adjustment from which the requirements of Ideological and Political subject coordinates with external inducement well. As Ideological and Political subject in senior high school is the Bridging Course between that in junior school and college, so its role is vital and lies in connecting. Therefore, how to arouse senior high school students’ learning motivation is of great importance. Meanwhile, to arouse senior high school students’ learning motivation in Ideological and Political subject not only helps to improve their learning effects but also helps to carry out quality-oriented education.Firstly, this paper analyses the reason and meaning of the topic from the aspects of the developments of the times, the expectation of the party and the government, the changes of learning and ways of thinking mode. In this way, the paper sets the research objectives, methods and the contents. Then, after mass of reading and collating the related materials, motivation, learning motivation and some other important concepts are defined. At last, several important learning motivation theories are introduced, which are the papers’ theoretic base.This paper makes a research on the present situation of senior high school students’learning motivation of Ideological and Political subject in Han Dan city, Hebei Province, then according to the results,this paper analyses causes of the lack of learning motivation of Ideological and Political subject from the aspects of students, teachers, family and society. At last this paper gives some suggestions and strategies to arouse and maintain students’ learning motivation of Ideological and Political subject, hoping to give teachers and students some values of reference.
