Learning motivation plays a very important role in the students'learning activities. But because of various reasons, lack of motivation is a common phenomenon in today'middle school education. And in the teaching of high school ideological and political course, the phenomenon of lack of inner motivation is also very common. The learning motivation of ideological and political course is a kind of power, that through the student's self-regulation, each individual's internal desire of learning ideological and political course coordinates with exterior inducement, arousing and maintaining the behavior of learning ideological and political course. Cultivating high school students'learning motivation of ideological and political course can not only improve the teaching effect of ideological and political course, change students'learning methods, but also favor the achievement of quality education. Unfortunately, the theory of learning motivation is mature, but when it comes to the ideological and political subject, the research seems to too weak, and this make it necessary to research the learning motivation of ideological and political course.Firstly, through combing the documents and materials, this paper defines the concept of learning motivation of ideological and political course, and introduces several related theories of learning motivation, hierarchy of needs theory, theory of achievement motivation, achievement attribution theory, self-efficacy theory and achievement goal theory. Secondly, through a questionnaire, this paper reveals the features of high school students'learning motivation of ideological and political course. Then this paper analyzes the significance of cultivating students'learning motivation of ideological and political course. Finally, combing the theory of learning motivation and the teaching practice of ideological and political course, this paper from political teachers'perspective puts forward some strategies to cultivating high school students'learning motivation of ideological and political course.
