With the improvement of China’s comprehensive national power and the development of international exchange between China and the world, the needs among countries for the talents who master Chinese language and culture are increasing. thus Hanban, in charge of Chinese international promotion affairs, organizes a series of Chinese international promotion activities among which Chinese Bridge —Chinese Proficiency Competition For Foreign Secondary School Students is important one. Since the first time to be held in 2012,Chinese Bridge competition has been co-conducted by Yunnan Normal University for four years.Based on the written tests of the 8th Chinese Bridge—Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students in 2015, This paper takes the test results as research objects and analyses 157 foreign students’ Chinese proficiency in listening, grammar, Chinese national condition and culture. Furthermore, we research deep into each testing section and analyse test composition with comparison among the contestants of different countries so as to know the differences of foreign students Chinese proficiency and what influence the different part of written tests will exert on them, thus it will help us to come up with better suggestion and strategy for the competition and overseas students.The paper includes five parts.The first part is introduction, which explains the background, development of Chinese Bridge competition and why choose the 157 foreign students Chinese proficiency as the research emphasis and how we conduct the research.The second part to the fourth part analyze the test results in Listening, grammar, Chinese national condition and culture and compare the features among the 157 contestants in the same test part so as to know the details.The last part puts forward the strategies of effective Chinese study for foreign secondary school students and measures for improving the competition.
