The ideal faith is the spiritual guarantee of the people pursuit and yearning for a better life, is also the power source of the country and the nation to forge ahead. The college students are the future of our nation’s hope, and they will be the backbone of the various units and departments. How college students’ ideological and political quality, moral quality are, and whether theirs socialism, communism ideal faith is strong. Not only to its own development, but also relates to the party and the country’s future and destiny. College students only have a science and firm ideal faith, can they consciously resist the various temptations and erosion in the fierce competition in the era. Taking their own wisdom and scientific knowledge learned to the country where it is most needed, and contribute to the motherland, then realize their own value. Thus, the prospect of socialism with Chinese characteristics will be brighter, the communist ideal can be finally realized. Therefore, strengthening college students’ ideal faith education research in the new period is significant to foster a firm ideal faith of successors to the cause of socialism.This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter elaborates the connotation and features of ideal faith and the ideal faith education, then from the needs of training the qualified builders and successors of socialism and the student’s healthy growth, this paper discusses the importance of strengthening college students’ ideal faith education in the new period. The second chapter is based on clue of historical development, the college students’ ideal faith education is divided into three stages since the founding of China. They are the establishment of the college students’ ideal faith education and frustration stage, recovery and development stage, stage of reform and innovation, and the concrete analysis of each stage of development of college students’ ideal faith education objectives, main content and way. The third chapter is in the review of development since the founding of the college students’ ideal faith education, on the basis of summarizing the ideal faith education of college students generally experience and lessons from history, at the same time analyzed the challenge for the college students’ ideal faith education in the new period. The fourth chapter, according to the college students’ ideal faith education adhere to the goal and principle, from the education content, method, environment and teachers team construction and so on, explore to strengthen college students’ ideal faith education path and method.
