Moral education is very important for the country and the individual, since ancient times,our country paid attention to moral education. However, our current society is in economic transition period, all kinds of ideological trend, the influence of television networks and other media have a large extent affecting the moral development of adolescents. As the in-depth international communication, the author noticed that our country’s moral education and character education in the United States are the two major forms of moral education. Having experienced a long process,character education accumulated a lot of successful practical experiences in the field of reconstructing the core values of the United States, such as rebuilding America’s core values, innovating character education approach, integrating the character education power and deepening the evaluation of reform. The American character education practice is studied in this paper, especially the practice in schools. Hoping to provide useful and worth assistances referring to improve moral education in school and implementing the objective of enhancing morality and fostering talents.Literature method, content analysis method, in-situ survey method and case-study approach method are included in this paper. The author selects 55 National Schools of Character as the content to study, and then based on the content to confirm the research methods. Firstly, the author analyzes the existing literature to clarify the related concepts and to learn the research situation. Then with the method of content analysis, analyzing the core values of national schools of character、the major way of implementing、the implementing body and educational evaluation. Meanwhile, the author collects amount of precious information through investigations and interviews with the principal of National Schools of Character and analyze problem of improving teachers’ implementation of character education proficiency. At last, the author uses one case of National Schools of Character to gather and analyze the specific practice in school. Through the research, the author proposes the following six recommendations for moral education of school of our country.Materials from abroad are hard to collect as conditions limited,but the author collected some first-hand data as research subjects to add truth and credibility. Meanwhile, the content, process and results of this paper will be helpful for future practice of character education, making this research creative and original.
