Character education in America has a long history and experienced the ups and downs process of boom-decline-rehabilitation. At present, the character education not only become into a nationwide education campaign in America, but also the most popular model of moral education. Therefore, character education has had the significant attention and support from the government, the public, community groups, schools, parents, and so on. In the development of character education, a variety of character educational organizations have played a great role in promoting and facilitating the development of character education, especially in the New Character Education Movement.This thesis is divided into three chapters:The first part is the origin and development of the American character educational organizations, mainly of two parts, the first part described the development of the character education and the background of the character educational organizations; and the second part described the development of the character educational organizations. Because of the development of the character educational organizations are combined with the development of the character education, the first part is divided into three phases to introduce the development of the character education, then to introduce the background of the establishment of the character educational organizations. The second part first introduced the development of the character educational organizations before the movement of the new character education, and then introduced the development of the character educational organizations after the movement of the new character education.The second part is the practices of the character educational organizations, mainly of two parts. Firstly, introduced the basic situation of the character educational organizations, and then selected two representative organizations, Character Education Partnership; Center for the 4th and 5th Rs to introduce in detail. Secondly, reviewed the practice model in the character educational organizations in America, introduced the purpose of the organizations; the nature of the organizations; the characteristics of the organizations; the membership of the organizations; the main activities carried out by the organizations, etc. Through the introduction of these areas, we can understand the character educational organizations better.The third part is the evaluation of the character educational organizations. The thesis first summarized the achievements and experiences of the American character educational organizations, such as the substantial increase in publications to promote character education; a growing number of school districts and schools will be among the character education into school curriculum; teachers improve the level of character education; students' behavior and the overall position of the school is significantly improved; to broaden people's channels to understand the character education; to arouse more support and attention on character education; provides the conditions for parents and communities to participate the character education actively. And on this basis, come to the inspiration from the development of the American character educational organizations.
