Class Differentiation Of The Possession, Use, And Farmers Of The Relationship Between Resources - Anhui Village Field Survey

This thesis intends to discuss the function of "guanxi" resources in the process of social stratification. Since the reform and open-up policy, China's farmers' have divided into eight social stratums. In practical terms, the social stratification, as a major social phenomenon in rural area following Chinese rural reform , has been paid close attention from the academic circle.Because the social stratification is basically not the expected result of the state planning institution, its process inevitably involves farmer' full exploitation of traditional culture resources. But this field has not been emphasized adequately by now. So taking "guanxi" resources as the analysis tool, the author chose two typical example- Hu Village and Ding Village to investigate the process of rural social stratification, to prove the relationship between the occupation and application of "guanxi" resources and social stratification. In theoretical terms, this research still intends to reveal the originating and accumulating mechanisms of the macro-social phenomena at the micro- social level.On the basis of logical analysis, the author proves that today in the state institution, there are not enough non-agriculturaliziton opportunity for all of the farmers. In order to get predominant social status and interests, the farmers design and apply "guanxi", the traditional culture resources, in the non-institution space.Since the former farmer class with rather unitary relationship and sources of interests divided into eight social stratums with different bases and possessions of interests, the divided situation of the interests in rural area became more seriously. For the existence of the non-institution space, the author point that the society must emphasize the principle of equality of opportunity during the process of social stratification.
