American Parents To Participate In Education And Adolescent Health And Development Study

In recent years, numerous studies have emphasized the increasing parent involvement and participation in the schools and educational activities of their children. Research shows parent and family involvement increases student achievement, health and success. It is important to continue to bear in mind that when families actively participate in their children's education, their children do better in school. So, the involvement of parent in their children's lives is generally considered to be one of the most important ingredients in the recipe for successful educational programs.The thesis tries to describe and analyze the parent involvement in school and home, parent as decision makers and school manager, and the two-way communication between the school and parent in order to explain that how the school development the parent involvement program in U.S.A. This thesis also tries to analyze the background, the history, the theoretic foundations, and the content of parent involvement in U.S.A and tries to provide reference for the research and practices of the elementary and secondary school reform of our country. Finally, this thesis introduces the parent involvement in education of China, and give some advices for the development of the parent involvement in China.
