The school management,divided into the internal and external management.With the combined efforts of the internal and external management,the school would gain effective development.In China,when talking about the school management,emphasis would be put on the internal management from the school as well as the external management from the country,the government and the superior education department.While parents,as the most important part in school's external management,has long been underestimated or even ignored.In developed countries,represented by the United States,Australia and those in Europe,parents' involvement in school management has always been recognized by school administrators,teachers,parents and all sectors of the society since it helped to increase the efficiency of education and promote the development of the school.Parents' participation in school management is still in its infancy in our country and the situations are grim,thus the relevant theoretical researches and practices remain to be further explored.The study takes Kunming No.l High School as an example to investigate and analyze the parents'involvement in their school management and it shows the factors which block parents away from school management.The study will be divided into following three parts:The first part,includes chapter one and two,is the research background which analyzes the correlated researches both at home and abroad to make a review.With the basis of the review,the study will reveal the current situation about parents'involvement in school management by using the archival research method in respect of the evolution of parent-school relationship,theoretical foundation and practical exploration.The second part,namely the third chapter,is the empirical research which conducted with the help of the questionnaires and interviews.Classes(one for each grade)from Kunming No.l High School were randomly chosen and the corresponding parents were surveyed and interviewed while other interviews with parents,teachers and administrators were hold as supplementary materials to the case study.The case describes and analyzes the current situation from four dimensions:theoretical cognition,organizational institutions,participation constraints and practice situations,so as to reveal the obstacles which stop parents from participating in school management.The third part,as the fourth chapter in the paper,as the strategy study of c parent involvement.Advices are giving to the government,the school and the parents.Thus create a better environment for parents to involve in school management.
